The Falsified Medicine’s Directive came into effect on February 9th, 2019.
To protect consumers against the treat of counterfeit medicines, all medicine packs throughout Europe will have enhanced taper-proof measures and will carry a barcode with a unique serial number. All pharmacies dispensing prescription medication will need to verify and decommission all items against a central database to ensure the product is legitimate before it is dispensed.
